Foam, writing, the number 5 and The Gruffalo

Our superstars this week are: Freddie  and George for responsibility and resilience.  Well done both of you. In one of our tuff trays we have a wintry scene, we have enjoyed using the foam and discovering the animals that have been hiding. We have all been spending time writing on our whiteboards, we have been choosing to do this a lot so Mrs. Holmes and Miss. Grimmer has given us some notebooks.  We have really enjoyed using these and spend lots of time copying our sounds and tricky words. In maths we have been learning about the number 5, we designed birthday cakes for Kipper as it was his fifth birthday. This week we had our first ever school trip.  We sat beautifully on the coach and behaved impeccably all morning.  We thought the Gruffalo was fantastic, we all enjoyed joining in with the singing, repeated refrains and dancing.  The Gruffalo even wanted to come home with us but we had to say no, he was too big and wouldn't fit into our uniform!

Our superstars this week are: Georgia  and  Jonah for reflectiveness and reasoning.  Well done both of you. Birthday wishes, this week, went to  Billy ,  who stood up and blew out the candles on our school Birthday cake. This week we have been super busy, we have been finding ways to get water from the water tray into the tuff tray.  We very cleverly used the pipes, buckets and jugs.  We all got really wet, but had a fabulous time. Lots of us can now do up our own coats, we are really proud of ourselves and so are Mrs. Holmes, Miss. Grimmer and Miss. Tovell. A further thing that we are proud of is our writing, we each wrote our first sentence about the Gingerbread man.  We used the sounds and tricky words that we have learnt, we also used the sound mats and tricky word cards to help us.  Look how amazing we have been! In maths we have been learning about the number 4, we found lots of things that represent 4, we also used our bodies to...

Remembrance day and Jackson Pollock

Our superstars this week are: Billy  and  Sophie for reflectiveness and responsibility.  Well done both of you. We began our week working in our house teams and thinking about Gender Equality.  We talked about what we would like to be when we get older too.  Everybody thought it would be unfair to say that somebody could not be something because they were not the correct gender.  It was a very interesting day. During topic time we found out about the artist, Jackson Pollock, we then made some art in his style.  We enjoyed using the pipettes to drop paint on to the paper and used the brushes to splatter the paint. A further thing we found out about was Remembrance Day; we watched some short animations about why we celebrate it.  Some of us made our own poppies by cutting and sticking the petals and leaves, some of us worked in our finger gym area and used the tweezers to pick up buttons then place them on to the large poppy pictures.

Diwali, Bonfire and Outdoor Learning

Our superstars this week are: Harley  and  Kodie for resourcefulness and responsibility.  Well done both of you. It's a new half term and a new topic for us, leading up to Christmas we will be looking at celebrations.   We started off this week with looking at Diwali, this is a Hindu celebration and is the festival of lights.  We used rice and coloured sand to make our own Rangoli patterns, we used clay to make our own Diva lamps, we then listened to the story of how Diwali began and we acted it out using masks of the characters. The next celebration we looked at was bonfire night, we loved talking about fireworks and the loud noises that they make, we enjoyed making WHOOSH, BANG , P O P, F I Z Z noises together.  Our role-play area is now a bonfire night food stall and fire.  We have been busy buying, selling, ordering and 'eating' all the food and drink from the stall.  We have been very kind to each other and shared the different roles. ...
