Writing, reading and clay penguins

Our superstars this week are: Charlotte  and  Kodie for responsibility and reflectiveness.  Well done both of you. Birthday wishes, this week, go to  Ronnie ,  who stood up and blew out the candles on our school Birthday cake. We have had a very busy week this week.  We have been practising our reading and writing both inside and outside, we have been weighing, measuring and making our own Antarctica in one of our tuff trays. After finding out about penguins, we made our own from clay.  We watched and listened to the instructions and then followed them carefully.

Footprints and skeletons

Our superstars this week are: Georgia  and  Harley for reflectiveness.  Well done both of you. Our dinosaurs wanted to make footprints so we helped them do this with the paint, we then wrote words we thought of about dinosaurs, some of these words were "roar", "big", "tall", we sounded out each word and used our phonic knowledge to help us. We carried on looking at making the number five in different ways.  The dinosaurs helped up, some of them went into the swamp and some on the grass, another set of five chose to use the grass and a nest.  We also enjoyed using the double sided counters and a five frame to help us. On Friday we enjoyed using the art straws to fill dinosaur cut-outs with "bones".  We carefully cut the straws to the sizes we wanted and then glued them in place.

Boxes, fossils and a BIG SURPRISE!

Birthday wishes, this week, go to  Harley ,  who stood up and blew out the candles on our school Birthday cake. We have found a love for boxes this week!  Miss. Coles left a big box in our classroom for us and we LOVED it.  It became many things, at first it was a house, then it was a hiding place, after this we wrote on it, and ripped some pieces off.  The ripped pieces became lots of different things too, we had an iron man suit, a hat, a top and many more.  Our fruit comes in boxes too so we were allowed to use these, they became dresses, cars, and skirts. We've looked at different ways of making five and really enjoyed throwing the beanbags into the hoops and counting how many were in the hoop and how many were outside of it.  We also looked at zero and that this means there is nothing there. Fossils take hundreds of years to for...
