Building, bubbles and much more

Another busy week for us in Red class.  After watching Jack the Builder in maths we have been building and counting.  We have also been matching ten frames with their correct numeral, we secretly looked at our card and then shouted out our number while looking for our partner, it got very noisy but we had a great time.

We have also been showing off how amazing our writing is.  We drew and wrote about The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we also wrote about a picture from the book.  At the end of the week we acted out the story and showed the 4 stages of the lifecycle of a butterfly.

Some of us found out how to make bubbles with a straw and water, we added hand soap to make it more bubbly!

In our worship area we have some new dominoes, one set shows us the fruits of the spirit and the other set are Noah's Ark.  We loved playing with them today.

Outdoor learning and school council

We have had another very busy week in Red Class.  We have been learning our harvest songs with Keystage 1, chasing bubbles, voting for our school council representatives, year 2 house captains and year 1 vice captains.  We have had our first P.E lesson (which we LOVED), we have been learning new sounds and tricky words, and on Friday we had our first outdoor learning session (another lesson that we LOVED!)  It has been a really busy, exciting week, also tiring for our little 4 and 5 year old bodies. Many children, from our class, bravely stood up and told the whole school why they would like to be our school council representatives.  Everybody was proud of how brave they were and of the ideas that they had.  After a whole school vote we would like to congratulate our class school council members Charlotte and Kodie Well done to you both, they will be taking part in their first meeting next week. Foam, writing, the number 5 and The Gruffalo

Our superstars this week are: Freddie  and George for responsibility and resilience.  Well done both of you. In one of our tuff trays we have a wintry scene, we have enjoyed using the foam and discovering the animals that have been hiding. We have all been spending time writing on our whiteboards, we have been choosing to do this a lot so Mrs. Holmes and Miss. Grimmer has given us some notebooks.  We have really enjoyed using these and spend lots of time copying our sounds and tricky words. In maths we have been learning about the number 5, we designed birthday cakes for Kipper as it was his fifth birthday. This week we had our first ever school trip.  We sat beautifully on the coach and behaved impeccably all morning.  We thought the Gruffalo was fantastic, we all enjoyed joining in with the singing, repeated refrains and dancing.  The Gruffalo even wanted to come home with us but we had to say no, he was too big and wouldn't fit into our uniform!

Our first P.E lesson

Today we had our first P.E lesson.  Everyone was so excited, Millie even warmed up for it in the morning, our lesson wasn't until the afternoon. We had great fun playing traffic lights and beans to warm up.  We then showed our fantastic balancing skills by putting a tennis ball on to the centre of our racquet and trying to walk with it.  We worked independently and in pairs.
