Church, ice-lollies and ladybirds

Finding numbers on a number track, 100 square and counting on from the biggest number, are all the things we've been learning about in maths this week.  We've also enjoyed singing silly songs to 100.  We LOVE singing in Red class.

We've been doing more writing this week and reading sentences that we matched to the correct pictures too.  We are getting very good at writing sentences and reading.

We had a fabulous visit to St. Michael's church for R.E, we identified lots of different features of a church and enjoyed looking around the church yard too.  Mavis met us there and gave us biscuits and squash!

When we got back to school there was a special delivery, inside were some ladybird eggs!  We have put them in our growing area with the caterpillars.

It was a very hot day when we walked to church and because we have worked hard to fill our 'kindness bucket', we had a treat of crisps and an ice-lolly while watching a program that we chose.

Outdoor learning and school council

We have had another very busy week in Red Class.  We have been learning our harvest songs with Keystage 1, chasing bubbles, voting for our school council representatives, year 2 house captains and year 1 vice captains.  We have had our first P.E lesson (which we LOVED), we have been learning new sounds and tricky words, and on Friday we had our first outdoor learning session (another lesson that we LOVED!)  It has been a really busy, exciting week, also tiring for our little 4 and 5 year old bodies. Many children, from our class, bravely stood up and told the whole school why they would like to be our school council representatives.  Everybody was proud of how brave they were and of the ideas that they had.  After a whole school vote we would like to congratulate our class school council members Charlotte and Kodie Well done to you both, they will be taking part in their first meeting next week. Foam, writing, the number 5 and The Gruffalo

Our superstars this week are: Freddie  and George for responsibility and resilience.  Well done both of you. In one of our tuff trays we have a wintry scene, we have enjoyed using the foam and discovering the animals that have been hiding. We have all been spending time writing on our whiteboards, we have been choosing to do this a lot so Mrs. Holmes and Miss. Grimmer has given us some notebooks.  We have really enjoyed using these and spend lots of time copying our sounds and tricky words. In maths we have been learning about the number 5, we designed birthday cakes for Kipper as it was his fifth birthday. This week we had our first ever school trip.  We sat beautifully on the coach and behaved impeccably all morning.  We thought the Gruffalo was fantastic, we all enjoyed joining in with the singing, repeated refrains and dancing.  The Gruffalo even wanted to come home with us but we had to say no, he was too big and wouldn't fit into our uniform!

Our first P.E lesson

Today we had our first P.E lesson.  Everyone was so excited, Millie even warmed up for it in the morning, our lesson wasn't until the afternoon. We had great fun playing traffic lights and beans to warm up.  We then showed our fantastic balancing skills by putting a tennis ball on to the centre of our racquet and trying to walk with it.  We worked independently and in pairs.
